Lewes Old Grammar School’s Vox Choir are on track to achieve showbiz success after recording their debut album last week.
24 pupils teamed up with twice-Grammy-nominated producer James McMillan for the release, which they recorded over two days.
The four-track album mixes together old and new music alike, ranging from ‘Joy to the World’ to The Greatest Showman’s ‘This is Me’. Pupils also covered ‘Every time I feel the Spirit’ and ‘Faith’.
Head of Singing at LOGS, Rachel Munro, said that the recording sessions were a completely new experience for students.
“There are 24 voices on the album but obviously everyone couldn’t fit in the booth at the same time,” Rachel said. “We recorded in twos and threes and then James layered the vocals. It was an eye-opening experience which the children really embraced. They showed great discipline and we can’t wait to share the results.”
The recording sessions, which took place at Quiet Money Studios in Hastings, come after several exciting developments for the Vox Choir. In December, members visited Dame Vera Lynn to privately perform a selection of Christmas Carols.
