The stunning medieval fortress and its 40 acres of sweeping grounds and historic gardens have played host to tens of thousands of visitors this year.
One of the Castle’s star attractions has been the Collector Earl’s Garden, a fairytale, fantasy garden which has attracted a record number of visitors during the 2011 season.
Arundel Castle Manager, Bryan McDonald said: “The garden has been a huge attraction and even in Autumn it’s not difficult to see why. Our season here is coming to an end, but the garden is still full of colour and looks amazing. We hope as many people as possible will treat themselves to a visit this weekend to enjoy its unique atmosphere before the close of our season. ”
Meanwhile, the Castle is digesting the results of a visitor survey in which over 99 per cent questioned said they would recommend their family and friends to visit the ancient castle.
The survey sought the opinion of around 2000 visitors, and 84 per cent of them said they had spent at least three hours at the award-winning attraction which is the ancestral home of the Dukes of Norfolk and dates back to the 11th century.
As well as the Castle and its grounds, Arundel stages a season of spectacular events ranging from medieval jousting to outdoor theatre. The last event of the year will take place in the Castle Keep on Wednesday and Thursday of this week when Norman Knights assemble in full armour.
Plans for the 2012 season at Arundel are already being drawn up in time for the Castle’s reopening on 31 March.
