Our Investment In The Future

During the past 25 years the company has actively encouraged work experience placements from young people - some still at school and others in full-time degree education studying media and public relations.

This exercise has been mutually beneficial. The students have gained much from working in a small, full service PR consultancy where they have experienced all aspects of public relations. At the same time, the Lea Graham team has learned about latest PR concepts and up-to-date practical developments.

We are still in regular contact with the majority of work experience individuals, many who have gone on to fulfil their ambitions in high profile positions within the industry. Below are testimonials from some of the young people who have undertaken work experience at Lea Graham in the past few years:

Michael RowneyWork Experience at Lea Graham was more immersive and enjoyable than anything I’d imagined. Working in a small company, I was allowed to do so much more than just watch - I got to take on an active role that was as inspiring as it was interesting.

Although I was only on placement for a short time, the experience was varied and vast; I got to harness my love of English by writing press releases, engage in the planning of an Olympic Torch Relay event at Arundel Castle and work extensively on social media promotion for a variety of clients.

I’m extremely grateful to Susan and the team for an unforgettable week of fantastic experience, I was really taken under the wing and offered brilliant guidance throughout the week.

Hannah RichardsonMy time with Lea Graham Associates on a work experience placement was one of the highlights of my school year. I learnt a variety of different skills and got to see at firsthand how a small independent business can achieve great things.

I was able to experience both the entertainment and PR aspects of the business and thoroughly enjoyed every minute of my time with Susan and her team. It was a great insight into one part of the music/PR industry that is of great interest to me.

I’d like to thank Susan and her team for making me feel so welcome and for giving me the opportunity to work with them.

SF1I started my internship with Lea Graham in October 2009 as I needed relevant work experience as part of my Marketing degree. I worked as a PR and Marketing Assistant for 2 days a week for just over a year and gained a lot of valuable skills.

One of the events which we organised was a Media Reception at Arundel Castle for the launch of the 2010 season. It was very interesting for me to visit the beautiful Castle on several occasions and learn about its history and the events they stage every year for the public. I took lots of photos to send back to my family in China and they couldn't believe I had been working there.

I also helped to organise some of the events at the South of England Agricultural Society. The South of England Show was a very busy time for us and we worked really hard to make sure the Press Office could help any journalists who needed assistance. I accompanied the official photographers for some of the time which was very interesting.

I would definitely recommend others to join this company, not only to gain an insight into different stages of organising an event but also to improve their communication skills. I had a wonderful time working there and would like to return one day.

OliverWhen I did my work experience at Lea Graham, I learnt more about work than anyone could have told me. I did a massive variety of tasks and was guided every step of the way. I was lucky to have my Work Experience during the week of the South of England Show at Ardingly and I got to see Lea Graham in action, and they did an amazing job.

The company has been going for over 25 years, and I was honoured to be working with people who had been there from the beginning.

And the best bit? I haven't had to lie or exaggerate anything in this testimonial!

Amanda-1Over the two months I carried out my work experience at Lea Graham Associates I was able to involve myself within such a wide range of activities. This really allowed me a great insight into the industry and enabled me to learn so much in such a short space of time.

My degree in Media and Marketing obviously taught me a lot but to be able to carry out practical tasks such as writing press releases, preparing marketing plans, organising a film shoot, communicating with professionals and much more were all invaluable to me as a post graduate attempting to break into this industry.  For this I thank Lea Graham and the team.
