LOGS Students go for gold

Students from Lewes Old Grammar School (LOGS) took home 11 medals from the ISA Athletics Finals last week, as they represented the London South County in the national competition.

Battling record-breaking heat and humidity at the Alexander Stadium in Birmingham, the pupils came second in the competition as they won four gold, eight silver and two bronze medals.

Students from Years 7 to 10 took part in a variety of events on the day, which is organised annually by the Independent Schools Association for its 431 member schools.

Leading LOGS’s victories were Hector Summers and Anouska Fairhurst, who won gold medals in Javelin, while Maia Hardman came first in the 800m sprint.

Year 10 student Hannah Williams excelled in a myriad of activities, winning silver medals in the 100m race and javelin, while also competing alongside Calysta Morris, Maia Hardman and Scarlett Fox to come second in the Girls Relay.

Students from LOGS junior school, Morley House, also scored one silver and one bronze medal.

Javed Alikhan, PE Teacher at LOGS, said: “The girls did an absolutely amazing job representing the school and county. It was great to see students from across the country come together in the hot weather to celebrate their love of athletics. We’re so proud of all our students who competed.”
