Cullen Scholefield is delighted to be sponsoring the Art Academy London Graduate Degree Show 2019, which is presented by Tim French MBE and It’s Magic.
The Graduate Degree Show 2019 runs from Thursday, 25th July 2019 to Saturday, 27th July 2019 at The Baptist Church, Sussex Road, Haywards Heath. Entry is by donation. Thomas Golunski, a local portrait artist who has recently completed his degree course will be performing an illustrative talk on Friday between 7pm – 9.30pm.
The Art Academy London has an excellent record for launching new talent. The Degree Show is a valuable showcase for emerging artists and will feature works from graduating artists. It promises to be a fascinating glimpse into the world of art through a diverse range of media from painting, sculpture and print to ceramics, textiles and everything in between.
As the Degree Show Comes South, it’s the ideal opportunity for the local community to get a taste of the future of art from a selection of bright talent. This year, the show will feature work from Angel Kennett, who works mainly on oil painting and mixed media, inspired by living in the modern world and exploring different countries. Lisette Put, a Dutch artist whose work is an exploration into the constant chaotic flow of thoughts and emotions that rush through her mind. Seema Manchanda, who tends to work in projects producing a body of work that explores the issue she is confronting. Idris Woodroffe’s interest lies in the mind’s ability to perceive and experience – using oils, acrylics, pigments and pastels. Maša Travljanin is a Slovenian contemporary artist whose work comes from an investigation of human behaviour in relation to modern social norms in the form of sculptures and installation. Sonia Stanbury, draws her inspiration from the working of the human mind and unconscious imagery accessed during dream sleep – she likes the mix of darkness and humour. Kate Crumpler, who works mainly in painting, sculpture and performance, using a wide range of unusual materials from mud to golf balls to illustrate her way of understanding the world. Mercedes Balle, whose Majorcan origins and proximity to nature strongly influence her work in immersive pieces, which combine painting, drawing and installation. Thomas Golunski, a local artist who works primarily in oils and charcoal and is currently exploring how traditional methods and techniques impact contemporary paintings and the way they are consumed in the digital age.
Cullen Scholefield, will celebrate 33 years in business this October. Accredited with the Gold Investors in People Award three times in 2010, 2013 and 2016, Cullen Scholefield is known for playing the long game; relationships with clients and suppliers last for decades and this extends to relationships with employees and the local organisations and charities it supports too. Great art and artists share these characteristics and of course, a sense of fun and laughter are also great to help us all get there!”
Tim French MBE, through his events agency It’s Magic has a history of supporting young talent and the arts as well as many local charities. He has a special relationship with the artist Thomas Golunski as his mentor and has also supported him with his studies at the Art Academy London. Tim says, “We are delighted that Art Academy London Principal Rob Pepper and his colleagues have endorsed this influential show coming to Haywards Heath. We would also like to thank the clergy and members of the Baptist Church for embracing the event.”
