Concert Advance from Decca Benefits Dame Vera Lynn Children’s Charity
On Thursday 15th November, Virginia Lewis-Jones (Dame Vera’s daughter and Vice President of the Dame Vera Lynn Children’s Charity), along with Tom Jones and Brian Dennehy, Trustees of the Dame Vera Lynn Charitable Trust, presented a cheque for £10,000 on behalf of Decca, which was the advance for the special DVD of the London Palladium concert held last year to honour the Force’s Sweetheart’s 100th birthday.
Featuring performances from Alexander Armstrong, Hayley Westenra and Bradley Walsh among the star-studded line-up, the concert was incredibly successful and the DVD continues to be so.
Dame Vera said, “I was humbled by all of the celebrations that took place to mark my milestone birthday last year and I am overwhelmed by the continued kindness and generosity from people, and, particularly the hugely talented performers.
“Working with Decca all these years has been an endless pleasure, and I am so grateful that the concert and DVD will benefit young families . The Children’s Charity is very close to my heart and I cannot think of a better way to commemorate my relationship with Decca than this.”
Pilar Cloud, Executive Manager of DVLCC, added: “The DVL100 concert was truly unmissable and the Charity is thrilled that people have been able to honour Dame Vera’s legacy, enjoy her music, and help us to support young children with cerebral palsy and other motor impairments. We are so grateful to Tom Jones, Tesni Challis, Annie Riley, who were the producers of the show, and all of the wonderful performers who donated their time and efforts on the night, and for their continuing support.”
