Before I went to LGA, I heard from people who’d done work experience elsewhere that the only things they were allowed to do were filing and making tea. My experience at LGA was completely different: enjoyable, varied and interesting.
Before I went to LGA, I heard from people who’d done work experience elsewhere that the only things they were allowed to do were filing and making tea. My experience at LGA was completely different: enjoyable, varied and interesting.
My tasks were far from menial and included compiling databases, editing and sending press releases, and also writing articles and blogs, which really allowed me to make use of my love for English. My two weeks included many highlights, such as meeting a client in Lewes and helping to answer Dame Vera Lynn’s fan mail…one thing that has to be mentioned is the networking event at Ashdown Park Hotel.
Expecting a quick BBQ, we in fact got a sit-down dinner (albeit a buffet) in a beautiful room with gorgeous furnishings and a lovely view of the gardens. It was a wonderful way to relax while meeting lots of interesting people, and I even got a tour of the chapel – stunning!
I’m so grateful to Susan and Graham for giving me such a wonderful and inspiring time, and I hope there will be many opportunities for us to work together again in the future.
