Ruth’s Report: Week 4 of Work Experience

When I arrived for my internship, becoming an expert on coffee and the Kirlian camera was definitely not what I was expecting. This week, I have exceeded my expectations and done just that. Researching and writing blogs for Electric Body has been fascinating to say the least.
This week I have also been helping with the upcoming re-launch of various websites, both for clients and our own Lea Graham Entertainment one. This has included going through the copy, pictures and each page to make sure they are relevant and up-to-date.
Something I’d never understood was how my mum could spend a whole afternoon just sending emails. Was she taking 2 tea breaks an hour? After this week I finally understand. I think I have sent more this week than in the rest of the year combined. I definitely won’t be shy of sending emails to my professors next year!
The post machine proved quite the adventure on several occasions as Susan and I learnt how to navigate it. Thank goodness Graham was on hand to supervise; it’s a miracle we managed to get Dame Vera’s post out!
I’ve loved how unpredictable it has been to work here. While I understand this is not for everyone, I’ve never been one to meticulously plan my day. When something comes up that wasn’t expected, I really enjoy it. Fortunately for me, this happens more regularly in PR than most other areas of work.
The office continues to be a lovely environment to work in. Even when it’s been cold and rainy outside, there’s always something to laugh or chat about to lift the mood. I can’t believe I’m almost half way through!
